A visit to Al Aqah Heritage Village and the Classic Cars Museum
A visit to Al Aqah Heritage Village and the Classic Cars Museum
If you're exploring Fujeirah over the holidays, make sure to have a look at the Heritage Village in Al Aqah. This newish complex is conveniently located in the hotel area, just opposite the Rotana, Le Meridien and Intercontinental resorts and is worth having a look. My kids get cold quickly in the pool when the sun goes down so this little adventure came in handy to fill the couple of hours between the time we were done swimming and dinnertime.
For just 20 dhs per adult (kids go free), you get access to the complex with 3 little museums. In the courtyard, a tractor and classic cars set the tone.
A little path leads up the hill, and the first building on the right is an ancient books museum.
It lacks descriptions but the museum attendant gave us a little tour. The displayed books are impressive...
...and even interesting for the little ones (for a short while!)
Most books are of religious nature. Who knows what they've seen in all these centuries?
There is even a Bible which dates back to the 13th century.
The second open building is a little numismatic museum.
There are also some swords and other weapons on display - very exciting for my boys.
The most exciting part of the complex without any doubt though is the classic cars museum...
It's heaven for car fans! The vintage Land Rover was a clear favourite of the kids!
Along the back wall are displayed old interiors.
More parts of the Heritage Village will be opening soon. Timings are 9 am - 9 pm.
A little coffee shop belongs to the complex and we were lucky to listen to live music.
After the visit there are several dinner options in the area, some of them with views on other parts of the Heritage Village.
Don't miss the chance to visit some more attractions on your way back, for example Rafisah dam or Wadi Shees. Enjoy ✨
