Otaku ME, a budget friendly hobby space for older children and teenagers

This place is my sons' dream! They are way too young for it but they have been asking to go back since the day we walked past the shop...!

Located on the first floor of Times Square Center, this cute Japanese store sells figurines, mini 4WD models and accessories. It goes way beyond a traditional shop though- not only can you purchase plastic model kits...

...there are also little stations where you can assemble and paint them, with the assistance of the staff if needed.

The cheapest kits we've seen in store cost 52 AED but there are often promotions - until September 26 many are discounted up to 46,40 AED.

In addition, many accessories are available to pimp the mini 4WD models.

Once you are done building, you can compete against others at the in-store race track. If you purchase items for 100 AED or more, you can use the race track for free, otherwise it costs 15,75 AED for 3 hours.

It wasn't busy at all when we visited but we highly recommend booking in advance after this post!

Why we like it?

- it's a great activity for older kids and teenagers and it doesn't involve screens or anything virtual. Manual skills all the way!

- it only requires a small initial purchase (under 50 AED is doable!)

- chances are good it will keep them busy at home, too

- 15,75 AED for 3 hours on the race track is an unbeatable price to entertain them... and they can take their friends, too!
